The Natural Health Benefits Of Lemon Water

The natural health benefits of drinking lemon water are wide and varied.  Plus, it makes your water taste great!

All you have to do is get an 8-12 oz glass of water, and cut a lemon in half.  You can use a whole if you like, or, you can use smaller portions (say 1/4) of lemon but still total at least a whole lemon a day throughout the day.

From here, just squeeze, squeeze, squeeze and squeeze some more, then, drop the wedge in your glass.  Now drink up and you can reap all these rewards….

Increased Metabolism

Relief of Heartburn

Improved Digestion

Increased Energy

Vitamin C

Increased Immune System Functioning

Regulate Constipation/Diarrhea

Cleanse and Detoxify the Body

Relief From Heavy Periods

Natural Treatment Of Colds, Coughs, and Flu (especially hot lemon water with honey)

Improved Liver Functioning

A note of importance – Lemon water is incredibly advantageous especially when drunk first thing in the morning. The body is dehydrated from its long period of rest and coffee and other types of caffeinated beverages actually  further that.  Instead, many have switched from coffee  to lemon water in the morning and find a distinct improvement in the type of “pick me up” they feel.

Also, as noted above when you’ve got a respiratory infection warm water with lemon and honey is very effective in soothing the throat and providing anti bacterial support to the respiratory system from both the lemon and the honey used.  You can also take your lemon this way even when you’re feeling great.  In fact, having some honey daily is a nice habit to take up as well!

And, regardless of when or how you take your lemon water, some do say that over time lemons can have a negative effect on the teeth.  For this as well as to avoid the pulp and seeds, some find it best to use a glass straw when drinking their lemon water.

At this point, all that’s left to do is go ahead and pick up some lemons and start incorporating lemon water into your diet today.  You’ll start feeling the benefits almost immediately!

The Benefits Of Regular Exercise For Natural Health And Wellness

Exercise.  It’s quite a concept.  Our ancestors would have howled with laughter at us saying things like “You run for fun, not to get to town?”  “You go out in a kayak not to hunt, or travel but just to paddle?”

Things are SO much different now though.  Many of us lead quite sedentary lifestyles, and as a result regular exercise is essential for natural health and wellness.

Our bodies need to move, and sweat.  Our heart, like every other muscle needs to be challenged to stay healthy, and, while it used to be that general life often led to more than enough physical activity for natural health, today, we sit at our computers, sit in traffic, sit on the couch….we’ve got to consciously fit regular exercise into our daily lifestyles.

If we don’t we’re missing out on a wide variety of benefits regular exercise naturally provides for our bodies including:

Clearer Skin

Increased Energy

Improved Mood and Self Esteem

Stronger Bones

Increased Ability to Relax and Sleep More Soundly

Stronger Immune System

Weight Loss

Increased Muscle Mass and Definition

Lower Heart Rate

And that’s not even all of ’em!  Basically, regular exercise improves the functioning of your entire body, and, as a result, when you exercise regularly you’ll feel better all over!

Yes, it may take a week of plowing through the muscle aches when you first get going – but then, once you’ve been exercising regularly for at least 6 weeks, you’ll feel it when you DON’T workout because regular exercise really is that important for our overall natural health and wellness.

So figure out your favorite way to exercise and find a way to incorporate it into your daily routine.  The benefits are boundless and you’ll feel an improvement in the way your body feels almost instantly!

Nurturing Yourself Through Nature

Ever since I can remember nature has been a place of solace for me.  There are simply times I’ve got to step outside, take a deep breath, clear my head, and rejuvenate!

With all that goes on in my life though – I don’t get enough time outside by myself- but I got some today and it was FABULOUS!

Don’t get me wrong.  I love playing in nature with the kids and watching them feel and enjoy all the beauty and wonder it has to offer.  In fact, its usually how the whole family recharges together; kayaking, hiking, even just walking to the river here at the house.  Its awesome and I wouldn’t trade a minute of it.

Yet, that’s the same reason I don’t get a lot of time out there just me and the great wide world; which is an important part of nurturing myself to me personally  so I can be a better mom, wife, and person over all.

But today, it was different.  Everyone was occupied and instead of doing the dishes that desperately needed done, or folding the laundry that is the mountainous heep in the basement, working, or anything else – I grabbed the dog and headed outside.  By. My. Self.

Here is some of what I saw so you can have a dose of nature and maybe nurture your natural self just a bit too…..

Personally I think nurturing yourself through nature is so effective and so important because the energy running through the trees, the birds singing in the sky, the beavers doing their work, the river running through the field –  its in us too!  Because of this, setting ourselves in the middle of untouched nature with little to no man made interventions can strike a chord not many other activities can; one that is almost guaranteed to make you feel better about life and whatever you’ve got going on in it.

While I know many people who say they don’t feel this need, and we all recharge our spiritual and emotional batteries in our own unique ways, the deep restorative powers of spending time in the natural world, in my opinion, has something to do with whats at the core of life for all of us and, as a result, something we all can benefit from; especially us natural mammas who seem to always find something else to do besides nurture ourselves!
